NHS Fitness Self-Assessment

Do you know how fit you are?

To stay healthy or to get healthier, adults need to do 2 types of physical activity each week, a mixture of aerobic and strength exercises. Ultimately, how much physical activity you need to do each week depends on your age.

NHS Guidelines for adults aged 19-64

To stay healthy, adults between ages 19 and 64 should try to be active daily and do:

  • at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity such as cycling or fast walking every week, and

  • strength exercises on two or more days a week that work all the major muscles (legs, hips, back, abdomen, chest, shoulders and arms). (NHS)
