Flu season is here again and we all need that little extra help to steer clear of the virus and if it gets us, that little help which will help your body rid itself of the virus.
Here are a few tips to help you fight off the virus. Help stop germs spreading by following these three simple steps provided by the NHS:
“CATCH IT Germs spread easily. Always carry tissues and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. BIN IT Germs can live for several hours on tissues. Dispose of your tissue as soon as possible. KILL IT Hands can transfer germs to every surface you touch. Clean your hands as soon as you can.”
Eat the rainbow
Eating your way back to health isn’t a quick solution, but considering what you put in your mouth is even more significant when you’re down with a cold. Ensuring your body has all the tools in the kit to fight the virus makes a lot of sense.
Be sure to try adding as many colours of the rainbow onto your plate as you can, as this will ensure you get the most optimal balance of vitamins and minerals = means your body can fight the virus more efficiently. Try to have at least 3-4 colours on your plate at each meal. As an example, an evening meal that contains tomatoes (potassium), sweet potatoes (beta-carotene) and broccoli (vitamin K) – then you can add your choice of fish, lean meat or tofu etc. The vitamins and minerals mentioned represent only a sliver of what goodies these powerful veggies can provide you with. What is especially important to remember now and always, hydrate yourself sufficiently – drink lots of water, hot or cold – just remember to drink!
If the flu has got hold of you, this natural aid may help you feel better, and even if it doesn’t, it’s still good for your body and soul. Add lots of ginger, lemon + hot water, either gulp it down or place it in a large bowl, hover over the bowl and cover yourself with a towel – and breathe deep breaths for about 5 minutes (don’t burn yourself with the hot water though).
By letting yourself rest, keeping the virus contained and feeding your body with a vitamin and mineral rich diet, the flu will be a passing memory soon enough!
